Talanoa T. Mathewson's Obituary
Talanoa Taai Mathewson was born August 16th, 1965 to her father Taai Mailo and mother Felila Mailo. Talanoa was born in American Samoa where she resided until the age of 10. In 1975 she moved to Hawaii with her family and resided in Pearl City. She graduated from Farrington High school in 1983 with her high school diploma. After high school she furthered her education in health care and attended Kapiolani Community College. She completed her training and education in health care and earned her certification. She also worked as an architectural engineer on naval base Pearl Harbor.In 1988 Talanoa met her husband Myron Mathewson downtown Honolulu and had a long and prosperous marriage of 28 years. They raised 4 kids and later moved from Hawaii to San Diego where their family would expand. Talanoa would become a grandmother to 2 grandsons Isaiah Collins and Desmond Mathewson and 3 granddaughters Chasity Collins, Felila Mathewson and Scarlett Mathewson.Talanoa passed peacefully on June 9th, 2018 in San Diego, California, where she resided with her husband, children and grandchildren. Talanoa is survived by her husband Myron Mathewson and their children Tuavao Mailo, Maurice Mathewson, Talia Mathewson and Talara Mathewson.
