Teresita Otilia Gonzalez De Carrasco's Obituary
Doña Teresita Otelia Gonzalez was born on October 3, 1930 in Santo Domingo Barrio Bajo, Etla, Oaxaca México. The daughter of Moises Gonzalez Diaz and Elena Hernandez Valle, Doña Teresita was one of eight children. She was known for her incredible skills as a cook and baker, and was able to provide for her three daughters as a cook, working for a variety of people. Her children and grandchildren treasure the recipes and wisdom she shared with them throughout her life. In 1980, Doña Teresita was the Mayordoma of Santo Domingo Barrio Bajo, and was able to contribute the money needed to rebuild the ceiling and roof of the village church. Her generosity, caring and exceptional work ethic made her a leader in her community both in her home village and in Colonia Olimpica,Oaxaca where she moved in 1969. It was in Colonia Olimpica that she was one of three founders of the Virgen de Perpetuo Socorro chapel, creating a community place of worship and belonging. Everywhere she went Doña Tere was looked to for her kindness of spirit and commitment to her faith. It was with this same integrity and love that Doña Tere raised her three daughters, which she later shared with her grandchildren. Though Doña Tere will be greatly missed, her spirit will live on her family and friends, and with every recipe of hers made and shared with the community she loved so much. Doña Tere is survived by her daughters Julia Eva, Anna Maria, and Natividad; her five grandchildren, Elisa, Justin, Julia, Christopher, and Katherine; her three great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jacobi, and Jacai; her extended family, Esther, Natalie, Myra, and many nieces and nephews.
