Theresa Frias' Obituary
In Loving Memory of Theresa Frias 12/24/2020
Theresa Frias lived her life as she loved, unconditionally. Theresa, Dee Dee to her family and friends was born and raised in San Diego, and a Graduate of SDHD. Theresa was a devoted sister and mother. The eldest of 6, she has 5 brothers with whom she was close to all her life. Dee Dee has 5 chidren, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Her legacy of love is felt by all who knew her.
Dee Dee was of the Great Generation. As a strong and determined woman, she overcame much adversity in her life and succeeded in a career in the defense industry in San Diego after WWII. She worked at companies such as Hughes Tool, Convair, and General Dynamics, all while starting and raising a family. While working in aircraft missile production, she met and spoke with Werner von Braun the famous rocket scientist. Dee Dee worked many years at National Steel and Shipbuilding Company where she was instrumental in the blueprint department. During her time at these jobs, she made lifelong relationships.
After this fulfilling DOD career Dee Dee changed course and had a second career working at San Diego stadium during the Padres and Chargers games as well as all manner of stadium concerts and events. She also worked at the Del Mar Fairgrounds for many years. She enjoyed this work and treasured her time there and added to her circle of friends. At work, she also got to see family on a regular basis when they either attend games or worked the events also.
Theresa was woman of faith. Baptized in the Catholic religion, she attended church regularly with her children, continuing after they were grown. Places of worship include, The Immaculata at University Of San Diego, Holy Cross in Linda Vista, and Saint John’s in Lemon Grove.
Later in life, Theresa was able to travel for leisure, visiting New York City, many US States, Hawaii, and several European Countries. She loved her time traveling and we all were happy for her that she was able to do it.
Theresa Frias lived her life for others; she would sacrifice anything she had to help someone in need. Such as trips with her children to Mexico to take food and clothing to her acquaintances there, or providing a meal and a few dollars in exchange for a bit of work for a person in need. She went out of her way to comfort someone in distress or lift someone up that needed help. Theresa will be missed by all who knew her. The good life she lived has made the world a better place. Thank you mom for the life you have given us.
Ralph Anthony (Tony ) Frias
