Thomas A. Sarff's Obituary
Thomas A. Sarff November 6, 1929 – November 21, 2015 SAN DIEGO Thomas Alden Sarff, 86, of San Diego and formerly of La Mesa and El Cajon, passed away on November 21, 2015 at home of natural causes. His loving daughter was by his side. Tom was preceded in death by his dear wife of 55 years, Janice (Sistare) Sarff, as well as his oldest son, Thomas A. Sarff, Jr. Tom was born on November 6, 1929 in Cooley, MN. He was the son of Leslie Laurel Sarff and Georgia Francella (Farnham) Sarff. The family moved to San Diego in 1944 and Tom has resided in the county ever since. He is a Hoover High School graduate from 1948. Tom will be remembered for his kind nature, sense of humor, calm demeanor, eternal patience and deep love for his family and friends. He was a gifted storyteller and music lover who played guitar and sang. Tom also had an amazing memory, one in which he put to good use in recalling San Diego County history, classic cars and endless songs from “The Greatest Generation” era. Tom was a licensed commercial electrician and a member of IBEW Local 569 since 1952. With his two brothers, he ran Arrow Electric of Lemon Grove for nearly 20 years. Tom was also a past member of the National Electrical Contractors Association and retired from electrical work in 1991. He was also a longtime member of the Los Ancianos Motorcycle Club of San Diego since its inception in 1960 and participated in the club’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2010.Tom is survived by his children, Susie Wiegand of San Diego, Les Taylor of Marshfield, MA and David Sarff of San Diego. Tom is also survived by his sister, Donna Stone of Rocklin, along with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park & Mortuary on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at 11 a.m., 4300 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA 92113, in the Salli Lynn Chapel. For those who knew Tom and would like to attend the Service, you are encouraged by the family to please join us. Immediately following will be a gathering at Susie’s house.
