He was born on September 11th, 1973 and passed away in Oceanside, California on Friday, September 14th, 2018. He attended Sweetwater Union High School and graduated in 1992, and later graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 1995. Joe shared a home in Pasadena, California with his husband, Alan Bolf, whom he married in 2017. He is survived by his husband, Alan Bolf; his three brothers: Devane, Cheng, Kong; and 5 sisters: Vanessa, Sengmany, Sisouvanh, Katherine, and Kathy, as well as an abundance of beautiful nieces and nephews. Remembrance Joe was born in Vientiane, Laos and fled with his family in 1979 to Thailand. They arrived in the United States in the early 1980’s. Joe discovered his vocation at a young age, and spent his youth perfecting this craft. He was a creative genius, dedicating his whole life towards his passion for fashion. Joe had a love for designing women’s apparel, and it showed. He successfully designed for labels such as Secret Charm, California Blue, Self Esteem, and Fang to name a few. His work was available at popular stores like Macy’s, Nordstrom, J.C. Penny’s, Sears, The Buckle, T.J. Max, and Dillards. In 1998, Joe met the love of his life, and they quickly became inseparable. Joe and Alan bought a home together in 2002, and after celebrating 18 years together, finally married in January of 2017. Joe loved traveling, visiting all of the best known locations around the world. His favorite place to visit always seemed to be the latest place he had been. Joe loved all kinds of music. A social butterfly, with abundance of long-term and long-distance friendships with people going all the way back to elementary school. Joe had a way of charming people. He was generous and kind, always putting other people’s needs before his own. Joe will be deeply missed by all his family and many friends. Knowing Joe, he will deeply miss all of us, as he watches down from heaven. Joe’s influence, boundless energy, and memory will live on forever in each of us.
