Vera Skulavik's Obituary
Vera Jo Skulavik was born to John and Emma Skulavik on August 27, 1942 in San Diego, CA. She attended McKinley Elementary School, Wilson Junior High, and Hoover High. She graduated from San Diego State with a BA degree in Elementary Education, and was hired as a classroom teacher in the National School District in National City. Later she earned a reading specialist certificate and continued her career helping small groups of children to develop their reading skills.She enjoyed collecting dolls and attending local doll shows. She made numerous trips with her sister or friends, traveling to New York, Europe, Hawaii, the Grand Canyon (where she went on the mule trip!), and along the California coast.Vera was a kind, appreciative, and generous person. She had a steadfast faith in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Near the end of her life she devoted a lot of time in prayer for others.She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Alys in December, 2012. She leaves behind many dear friends who will cherish her memory.There will be a private service. No services are scheduled at Greenwood Memorial Park.
