Vernon E. Preece's Obituary
Vernon Earl Preece (also know as Vern) was born on June 4th, 1929 in Winterhaven, California. He was the 6th child born to Cleora, and his father was Earnest, both from Texas. Vern went to school there in Imperial County until the 10th Grade and decided to join the Merchant Marines at age 16. He was there for five years until he joined the Air Force.Vern fell in love with Miss Dixie Lee Forrester and they were married on September 3rd, 1955 in Yuma, Arizona. They had one child, a daughter, Cynthia. Their marriage lasted 60 years until Vern passed away on September 13th, 2015.Vern loved working for the Air Force as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician. He was with the Air Force for a little over 13 years when he retired in 1965 as a Staff Sergeant. He outlived all of his original family members and is survived by his wife, his daughter, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He was deeply loved by many because of his love for friends and family.
