William Edwards
Veronica Jean “Gina” Edwards lived life fully. Her meticulous penmanship filled her many calendars. She was well known and respected nationwide as a Certified Reverend in the metaphysical spiritualist community. She served others in and out of her B’hai faith, gave spiritual readings, healing services, and guided meditations. She performed mentored and developed short and long term courses of study in her passion for over 50 years! Gina was well beloved in her spiritualist community. Additionally, she served others daily, assisting them basic life essentials and medical assistance in her day-to-day job. She was a young mother of 5 sons with limited employment options. When federally funded welfare programs came available in her state, she faced ridicule and racial prejudices at every visit to the local admin office as she applied for these low income assistance benefits. The Health and Human services clerks there mocked her, that making babies is all her kind are good at. “Why don’t you get a JOB??!! You must be one of those LAZY….” Veronica smiled and replied, “I’ll have YOUR job.” They laughed at that saying she didn’t have the faculties for office work, she again replied, “I admit, I would have to work hard for a long long time, where you are naturally gifted. It looks easy enough, step and fetch coffee for your boss, talk catty trash on your coworkers all day.” She later made her way to the County office downtown, applied and tested against hundreds of other applicants, then selected as an intake officer with the county health and human services department. Over the next 30 years there she climbed the ranks until retiring with full aploom! Additionally, Veronica was well known socially for her singing talent, at numerous public events, and piano bars socially county wide year in and year out. She was widely known, loved and admired, and was a dedicated service provider to people in need, teacher, student, consultant, performer, mother, friend. Just common words for an uncommon woman. The world has lost one of the greatest optimist generous loving hearts. We, combined, pale in comparison to this one woman.
