Mrs. Link….There is place in my heart where she will forever remain. She was like a grandmother to me and my 5 siblings. We had one pair of natural grandparents who were in Boston,MA. So, we rarely saw them. My dad would bring us over to the Link's house which was like a menagerie of curious things…an old phone, a chair made from a tractor seat "the hot seat", the rocking chair with no arms. and the really cool stool that was also a stepping stool. Mrs. Link seemed always happy to see us and always welcomed us to their home. Every Christmas, she would wrap empty shoe boxes in Christmas paper. Then she would fill them with all sorts of treats like cracker jacks, curly hard candy, little toys and always a tangerine. I loved the aroma of the tangerine that filled the air when you opened the box. It was always such great fun to discover what was inside. When Christmas rolls around, I always I think about the boxes of joy…sort of wishing I had still had one to open. She was such a lovely person. May she rest in peace.
