Dear Padillo family,
Vicky was a Great, Positive, and Beautiful Friend to all of us that knew her and Mr. Gil here in San Antonio. We had the privilege of living next door to Vicky and Gil during their visits to San Antonio and we missed them when they moved back home to California. Each morning Vicky would walk to exercise, and we once 'rescued' a cute Baby that had wondered into the park across the street. The toddler had opened the front door and proceeded to the park to play on the swings! I was on my way out to work, and she was walking back towards her house, as I waived, we both saw the toddler, a small blonde baby boy in tee shirt and diaper. He was walking on the sidewalk and about to cross the street, it was probably 8 am or so, so traffic had died down from the early morning commute. I stopped and ran to him while Vicky picked him up. We joked about how cute he was and if we should just keep him, like some cute puppy! Vicky comforted him while we called the Police to report the child missing; a few minutes later, his frantic Mom appeared, along with a Policewoman, and we sorted out the details with her and the Police dept. Vicky stayed on to make sure all was good and her actions on that Morning were a small glimpse of the Grace she possessed. We joked about the "Keep the Puppy" moment we had that morning and she and I always laughed relived that the situation was not serious and innocently concluded with a wondering, curious baby seeking to play in the Park, back in his mother's arms. She will be missed.
I pass along our condolences to Mr. Gil too who I will Pray for. He Loved Vicky most of all. God Bless you and your Family. On behalf of my Family, Laura and I are with you at this time of your loss, she will be missed but not forgotten.
With an Embrace,
Les Melghem
