Viola Benjamin's Obituary
Life began for Viola “Vi” Benjamin in Dooling, Georgia on the Twenty-Third Day of November, 1942. To John Smith and Bertha Smith-Lewis. Viola was the oldest of three children and was very protective of her brother and sister.Viola was baptized at an early age in Macon, Georgia. She received her formal education in the public school system in Macon, Georgia. In the 1960’s the family relocated to San Diego, California where she met Solomon Benjamin who was in the United States Navy. Viola and Ben were married on October 28, 1968, and to this union they were blessed with three children.Viola was a homemaker, counselor, and a licensed beautician. Cooking and entertaining with her friends is what she enjoyed most. In the late 1980’s Viola united with the Community Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. C.E. Gayton. In spite of her physical impairment, she would still praise God.On July 26, 2013, God called Viola to come home unto him and rest. She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory her husband Solomon Benjamin, one daughter, Karen Bryant of Stafford Virginia; two sons, Darryl Smith of San Diego, California; Damien Benjamin of Columbus Ohio; three grandsons, Odrien Bryant of San Diego, California, Dorian Bryant of Stafford Virginia, and Donovan Bryant of Stafford Virginia; One great granddaughter, Skye Bryant of San Diego California; sister Marie (Leonard) of San Marcos, California and a host of other relatives and friends to cherish her memory.
