Virginia Enriquez Pontecorvo was born at home on her mother's birthday. The family lived on Taylor Street in Old Town San Diego. The date was May 21, 1921. She was named after her mother Virginia Contreras; her father was Jesus Garcia Enriquez. They were from Camargo, Chihuahua Mexico.
She passed away peacefully at home in San Diego, California on June 10, 2021 at the age of 100.
Virginia married John R. Pontecorvo in Yuma, Arizona February 15, 1942.
In her lifetime, Virginia was employed as an aircraft sheet metal worker receiving numerous outstanding achievement awards. Her favorite pastime in life was gardening, and playing Rummy with her grandchildren.
Virginia & John had 4 children.
Surviving are Sonia Petersen and John Pontecorvo; 6 grandchildren: Juanito Pontecorvo, Selina Flower, Kelly Park, Jessica McGinnis, Bradley Petersen & Zane Petersen; 12 great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Hannah, Joshua, Jacob Park, Dominique, Isabella, Christian Flower, Mila & Stella McGinnis, Maia, Micah & Lucca Pontecorvo.
