Vonda Carrie Butler's Obituary
The Butler and Smith families grieve at the loss of Vonda Butler, who passed away at Vista Gardens Memory Care facility, in Vista, CA surrounded by those who loved her. Attending were her mother Carolyn, sisters Kimberly and Becki, and brother, Michael. She is survived by her three sons Daniel, 36, Brian, 30, and Michael, 21, former husband Patrick, daughters-in-law Elena Butler and Belle Butler, and grandson Graham Butler, all of whom also attended.
Vonda loved camping, needlepoint work, blackjack jaunts to Las Vegas, bunco sessions with her friends, and of course, shopping. She was admired by all who knew her for her kindness, generosity, and incentive to embrace challenges. She always walked with an upbeat spirit, and never looked back.
Vonda was known for her high energy, and her tireless vigor in everything she did. She simultaneously raised a family, worked full time, and attended National University full time, achieving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Financial Accounting, having graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors in 1989.
Her beginnings in banking combined with her accounting education provided the foundation for a very successful accounting career. She applied herself professionally as an accountant for 3 major Biotech firms in San Diego, was recognized for her achievements with distinguished awards, and advanced herself into her final position as a senior financial analyst.
Vonda’s strong work ethics and tireless energy left a huge void at her place of work, when she departed there in December of 2017. She was forced to leave because she was stricken with Creutzfeldt Jakob disease, a terrible, fatal disease for which there is no cure, which she fought courageously until it took her life on May 17th. Memorial services will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary, Tuesday, June 2nd, at 10 am.
