Wanda Nadine Crawford's Obituary
Wanda Nadine Crawford was born to John banks and Edna Grant on January 24, 1928 in Springfield, Illinois. She was the eldest of two sisters and one brother. Wanda was a person that always lived her life on her own terms and played by her own rules. From a young age, her adventurous spirit came through when she ran off with a circus for a short time.As an adult, Wanda moved around frequently. She lived in Chicago, New York, Washington DC and San Diego, among other cities. Wanda was an avid reader, reading a variety of nonfiction books, and a connoisseur of different types of meats, wines and cheeses. She enjoyed spending time with her family and talking about the old days. Last year she went on a cruise with her beloved daughter in-law Danielle Crawford. She also loved cooking, eating, traveling and journaling. After her death, her son, Gregory Crawford found out that she kept a journal of daily events and interactions with family and friends. Wanda was a giving person who always opened up her home to family and friends in need. Wanda Nadine Crawford accepted Christ September 6, 2015.San Diego, California became Wanda’s permanent home, where she lived for over 60 years. Just before her death, she resided in Redlands, California, close to her son, Gregory and wife Danielle Crawford.On July 31, 2019, Wanda died the way she lived, enjoying life, traveling and being with family. She passed away peacefully in her sleep in the home of her niece, Rita and husband, Donald Edwards, during a visit to Dallas, Texas. Wanda lived 91 years!She is now home with her daughter, Linda Nelson; grandson, Michael Worsham; and husband, Herman Crawford.Wanda will be greatly missed be her children Nathaniel Hosea, Carol Hosea, Gilbert Hosea, Claudia nelson, Margaret Osby and Gregory Crawford; 16 grandchildren, 2 of which she helped raise, Quida Dugger and Ebony Knight; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.
