Wilhelmina Rader Gorosin Spencer's Obituary
Wilhelmina G. Gorosin-Spencer, Born March 30, 1937 passed away in San Francisco on Thursday April 6, 2017 at the age of 80. ‘Mina’ was born in Manila, Phillippines on Sabado de Gloria. Her parents were Esperidion Gorosin of Cebu and Estrella Rader-Gorosin of Illocos Norte’ the Phillippines. In her early life she attended the Assumption Convent in Manila and later St. Annes Academy in New West Minster British Columbia, Canada. She and her family immigrated to the United States, Settling in Los Angeles. While there she attended Loyola-Marymount College, and was an accomplished Pianist. She and her Brother and Sister founded “Willies Dance Academy” in L.A. Both her Sister and Brother were accomplished professional dancers, and Wilhelmina also formed her own dance ensemble. She traveled to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and the Western United States for a number of years. Upon retiring from dance, she turned her attention to a second career in business. Mina owned several boutiques in San Jose, Phoenix and Scottsdale. She ultimately sold all three for profit. During this period she also helped raise two nephews and a niece. In 1979 in Phoenix she met her husband Scott and both moved to San Diego and were married in 1980. In La Jolla, Calif. She owned and operated ‘Star Fashion’ from 1990 until currently, specializing in women’s and girls high end dresses. She learned the fashion business from her Mother, Estrella and Brother Ricco and this was her occupation for 28 years. From 1984 until 2002 there was not a day that at least one niece or nephew was not living with her husband and herself. Her family devotion was truly her second calling. She helped raise a second generation of nieces. Her interest was in devotion to her family and her business. Mina is preceded in death by her loving parents, brothers Andrew, Edward, Oliver and Ricco. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Scott. Sisters Amalita and Marie-Yvonne (Tita), Nieces and Nephews Sean Stacy, Velvet Stacy, Bradley Stacy, Chase Stacy, Royal Roshto, Asher Stacy, Star Radar-Gorosin, Ireland Padula, Sterling Padula and Trac Young. Wilhelminas final calling is in service to the Lord Jesus Christ. A Rosary will be held Wednesday April 12, 2017 at 10:00AM and a Funeral Mass at 10:30 at : Our Lady of Confidence Catholic Church 3131 Governor Drive University City, CA
