William D. Butler's Obituary
It was according to the will of God and his decree that the final chapter in the life of William Douglas Butler Sr. was completed on October 1, 2017. “Bill” as he was affectionately known to friends and family was born on July 22, 1926 to the late V.O and Alice Butler.After successfully completing High school in McKean County Pennsylvania, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served his country loyally for over twenty years.Early in his military career he met and married the love of his life Beatrice Louise Franklin. William and Beatrice settled in San Diego CA after his retirement from the military. He then worked for several years with Parsons Medical as a respiratory therapist. William “Bill” joined Church of Christ 61st and Division St in 1979. He was a faithful servant, teaching Sunday school and Old Testament Studies on Tuesday mornings. He really enjoyed teaching and sharing the word of God.Bill’s favorite pastime was road trips, cook outs, entertaining family and friends and he was a dedicated jokester.He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice Butler, two daughters Marta Butler and Marcella Butler.He leaves a legacy of loving memories to his sons Glen Yonkers (Adrianna) of Norfolk, VA and William Butler Jr. (Monita) Fort Worth, Texas, two daughters Karen Yonkers of Portsmouth, VA, and Sharen Yonkers of San Diego, CA. Ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, sister in law Mary Brockenberry and a special niece Pamela Scott and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
