William Albert Johnson III's Obituary
William Albert Johnson III
William Albert "Bill" Johnson III, 70, returned to his heavenly home on December 4, 2020. William was born to the late William Albert Johnson, Jr. and Alice Mae Johnson (nee Alexander), in Cincinnati, Ohio, on July 1, 1950. William started his Christian walk in 1971 and subsequently completed seminary theology studies. Afterward, he served on the staff of his church, Rescue Temple Church of God in Christ. William retired from a fulfilling career in law enforcement, working for Symmes Township Police Department of Hamilton County, Ohio, and later with the George Washington University in Washington, DC. In 2006, William moved his residence from Cincinnati, Ohio to San Diego, California to be closer to immediate family, and worshipped at St. Stephens Church of God in Christ.
Although known for his wit and humor, at heart, William loved God and demonstrated God's love as an open-hearted, thoughtful, welcoming soul who did not meet a stranger. He is known for his birthday and holiday phone calls to send love and well wishes to family and close friends. As well as making the late-night calls to let you know, "I was thinking about you." His baritone voice that chimed loving terms such as "Sweetheart," "Sugar," "Alright my brother," and "I love you. You take care," is deeply missed.
Blessed with a loving family, William leaves five children: Lamont Bohannon (Eleanor), Ebony Barnes, William Albert Johnson IV, Julena Grant and Sierra Grant; three grandchildren: Nitassia Bohannon, Erin Bohannon and Lamont Bohannon, Jr and three siblings: Carol (nee Johnson) Wallace, Abdul R. Rahim, Rose-Etta (nee Johnson) Horn, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Interment for William is at the Greenwood Memorial Park, 4300 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA 92113, on December 17, 2020, where the Reverend Lamont Bohannon will officiate the service. The family is thankful for your prayers and condolences.
