William "Bill" Kirby, Jr.'s Obituary
William “Bill” Kirby, Jr. was born on July 13th, 1930 in Harlan County, KY, where he lived until age 8. His parents were William and Leila Kirby. She was the 1st of 2 children. She attended Needles High School and obtained his High School Diploma. After graduation, he began his careers in the U.S. Navy Jet Mechanic and then pursued his retail career as a business owner. He retired in 2002 after serving for 47 years. After retirement he was involved in being a granddad and a great-granddad. He lived in Rancho Bernardo, CA and was married to Shirley Lucas on November 13, 1952 in Las Vegas, NV. He was a member of California Retail Liquor Dealers Association and he was the President for Chula Vista Lions Club. Bill was baptized when he was enlisted in the Navy and attended College Avenue Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War. He attained the rank of AD3. Bill was; loving, dedicated, hard-working, generous, social and popular. His most important events of his life were his marriage, the birth of his children, grand-children and great-grand-children. His favorite hobbies were reading, he loved watching TV shows, he collected decanters and he loved to dance. His favorite music and songs were; Country Music, Sentimental Journey, Wind Beneath & My Wings. He was survived by his two children; Kerry K. Kirby and William A. Kirby, III, and his grand-children and great-grand-children.
