Willie James Lilly was born to Elliott and Annie Lucenda Lilly on June 21, 1936 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was one of 11 children. He completed his formal education which included playing the tuba and marching in the Dudley Read Obituary
I offer my heartfelt condolences to my longtime bestie, Susan Perkins, and her family regarding the loss of her pops. We've shared some amazing memories in their home since 1984. May The Father and the ancestors welcome him with open arms into the heavens.

I offer condolences and prayers for you all during this time of loss. at least 44 years I have a vivid memory of this kind man in his uniform on the way to work, always waived and we'd waive back. His daughter, Kathy became my sister-in-love and I couldn't ask for a sweetie one. The Lilly family was there for my mother many moons ago.

I was Papa’s Den! We traveled together to New York, Colorado, Sacramento and so many more places! He always had a great spirit, a great sense of humor, and a dedication to his family that was admirable! We share a very important date, November 8, it will always be celebrated. He was there when I was born and I was there when he gained his wings! I love you Papa! Forever a monster!
