ObituaryIn loving memory of Willie Lee Jerome Smith. Willie was born on February 19, 1929 in Rayville, Louisiana, God called him away on Saturday May 9, 2015 while he was being attended by his wife of 30 years, Carrie Smith. He was the fourth child of Samuel Smith and Ruthie Lee Jones, who preceded him in death. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing dominos, loved the Lord and having bible study. Willie grew up in Louisiana, came to California in 1949, married his first wife, and fathered 11 kids. Willie joined the United States Army in 1952, and worked for the City of San Diego. He retired from the City of San Diego in 1980 and later started his own janitorial business and worked for years with that business. In his later years of working, he worked for his son-in-law Anthony Feaster until his health started to fail him. Willie Obeyed the Gospel at 32nd Street Church of Christ in the 1950*s. He worshiped and taught bible class at Lemon Grove Church of Christ, was the Minister in El Centro for 2-3 years. He last worshiped at Granger Church of Christ where he also preached and taught adult bible study. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Carrie Smith.; Children, Carl Augustus, Margaret Ann, Matthew Lee, Shirley Lynn, Christopher Scott, Sampson Ivan, and Mable Alise Smith; Stepchildren, Eddie Rackley, Angela Rackley, Jacqueline Feaster(Anthony), Zelda Rackley, and Catherine Johnson(Anthony); Sister, Lottie B. Jones, a host of grand, great, and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and friends. Willie’s siblings who preceded him in death were Sarah Tucker, Katie Jordan, Louise Lavender and Oscar Smith. His children who preceded him in death were sons, Jerome Marcellus Smith, andDonald George Smith; Daughters, Gerlene Aida Smith and Ruthie Lee Smith. Brother Willie Smith lived a long life and fought an illness all the way until God called him home. He will be missed and memories will remain in our hearts forever.
