Winnie Ruth Hill's Obituary
November 20, 1944, one of the joys of the world was born, Winnie Ruth Kuykendall a loved child, sister to 5 brothers and 2 sisters an insightful and spirited child, full of wonder and spunk, who partly grew up on a farm in Texas and later moved to California.
An awesome student, she attended Memorial Junior Highschool and was a proud graduate of San Diego High school. She continued her education at San Diego City College, earning a degree in Business Administration. Winnie broke the color and gender barriers by working in an exclusive High End Fashion Boutique in La Jolla, California. The boutique catered to the rich, famous, and international clients. She soon won the heart of a Korean and Vietnam War hero, Garland A. Hill and was married, 23 March 1967.
She soon started a family giving birth to Eric Hill, Leander Hill and Shannon Hill. After being widowed she began working with Art, a Business Financier and co-pioneered the concept of what is now known as the 99 cent and dollar tree stores. After Arts retirement, Winnie continued and started her own business, a Home Daycare and ran it successfully for 30 plus years. She cared for 4 generations of children. Winnie Hill volunteered at her family’s church and was loved by many in the community. She was a mother figure to all who came to know her loving and generous nature.
Winnie is survived by Eldest Son Eric Hill and his child Adwoa Hill. 2nd Son Leander Hill and his children Lee Hill II, Lemonte Hill, Lemarkus Hill, London Hill and Taleeah Hill. Daughter Shannon Hill Waymer and her son Ronald Waymer. Great Grand Children from Lee Hill II, two children Liyah Hill, Nova Hill, from Lemonte Hill 3 children, Khyell Hill, Leoni Hill and Khyaa Hill.
