Peter Conlon
*******I met Brother Weaver in 2005 at the old Fanita Branch of the LDS Church. I saw by his lapel pin he was a Submariner- when I asked his Boat and he replied "Pampanito" I knew I was with someone from History. I replied Sept.1944 (??) and He knew that I knew, and I knew He knew that I did know. ******** One of the Great Survival stories of WWII and Woody was one of the First to spot and later rescue scores of Australian and British POW's who had survived the Death Railway on the Kwai and were on Two Torpedoed Transports destined for Japan. Most perished but 3 US Submarines saved more than a few and brought them to Guam. ********He may be the last Surviving Person from the Pampanito, which still exists today and is on display in San Francisco. ************* I have not seen him in about a Year now, and I am honored to include this Tribute.
