Alexander Angeles Pangilinan, age 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Alex was born in Manila, Philippines on June 20, 1943, the son of the late Amado B. Pangilinan and Rebecca M. Angeles. He attended Manila High School, Class of 1960, and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Mapua Institute of Technology in 1967. Alex dedicated his fifty year career to mechanical design and aeronautical engineering, which included working on everything from the DC-10 to the space shuttle and various military programs. Throughout his life, Alex held close to his heart the values of family, church, and music finding joy singing in the church choir, playing bass guitar with the PASACAT Philippine Performing Arts Company, even studying cello up until his passing. Alex never met a stranger, had a joyful smile, and welcomed everyone like family. He was a kind and generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and family in need. In his later years, Alex was passionate about gardening and travel, he loved visiting Hawaii and Mackinac Island, Michigan. He was a true family man and loved spending time with his loved ones, especially with his beloved wife, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. On November 10, 1965, Alex was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rosario S. Nicolas, who survives. He is also survived by his three sons, Alvin (Lorena) Pangilinan, Bryan (Bob) Pangilinan, and Clark Pangilinan; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and brothers Benjamin and Conrado. A funeral service will take place at First United Methodist Church of National City on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 12pm. A time of visitation will be held at the church two hours before the service.
