Celebrating the Life Of Thomi Burton-Campbell “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 The world was blessed on August 15, 1960, when Thomi Burton was born to Theodore R. Burton (Ted) and Arlene Miller in San Diego, California. She received her early childhood education in the public school system in San Diego, California, graduating from James Madison High School in 1978. Thomi continued her educational pursuits at Bay Vista and Marinello Cosmetology School. Upon graduation, she started her 30-year career as a Master Cosmetologist. Thomi was very passionate about her craft, even after she started to nurture and devote her time to raising her family, she found time to hone her coiffeur skills. Thomi accepted Christ at an early age. She was a born-again Christian and was raised in the fear and admonition of the Lord. She always held on to her faith and truly loved God. Thomi was a member of the Mt Olive Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Dr. Vernon Cooper, Jr., where she served as a Deaconess. During this time, she found a love for singing and lent her beautiful voice as a lead soloist in the choir. She was always assisting in other ministries within the church. Thomi was also a member of the San Diego Regional Choir, where she traveled to many states ministering in song. Thomi was also known for her unique style of dress and was very fashionable as she always thought outside the box. She also had a keen eye as indicated for her love of fashion and flair for interior design. She could always make even the simplest things into something you would fall in love with. Thomi had an infectious smile that could illuminate any room she walked into. She was such a loving person and she genuinely cared for all she encountered. To the very end she was a loving daughter and caring mother, sister, aunt, confidante, and closest friend. Thomi was preceded in death by both of her fathers, Theodore R. Burton, and Andrew T. Miller. On September 7, 2021, God needed a flower to adorn His beautiful garden and called Thomi Burton-Campbell from labor to reward. Those left to cherish her memories are her beloved mother, Arlene Miller; grandmother, Lovenia Broussard; three children, DeNaiya (Jude) Bordeaux, Eshad Walker and Tahzara Campbell; siblings, Tedy (Linda) Burton, Trevelle (David) Burton-Johnson and Terry (Cheryl) Burton; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and close relatives and friends. Thomi will be sorely missed by everyone; the love she poured into her family and friends will resonate for the rest of their lives. Apparently, the Lord needed a lead soloist for the Heavenly choir. We are grateful for the time we spent with her. We will all miss you greatly…. “Her”, Lord said to “her”, well done, good and faithful servant, you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you a ruler over many things. Enter the joy of your lord. -Matthew 25:23
