Adrian Eugene Vander Wyst's Obituary
Adrian Eugene “Van” Vander Wyst was born on January 15, 1925 and passed from this life October 19, 2016. He grew up in a small town in Minnesota until he was 17 years old when his dad moved to Chula Vista Ca. Van soon followed with his mother Nita and his little brother Larry. Shortly after moving out west Vans father (also named Adrian) died of Tuberculosis in 1944 from previous work in the mines back home. Van became the sole provider for the family and did a wonderful job taking care of his mom and brother. Van lost his little brother Larry in a car accident in 1984 that devastated him and was a guilt that he carried until the end. That left him and his mom and he doted on her and cared for her until her passing in 2000. Van died the way he lived. Peacefully. He was a kind and gentle spirit who never had a bad word to say and had a great sense of humor. He was the last of his breed. A good and decent man who’s pride and joy in his life was his one and only daughter Susan. Other jewels in his crown were his 3 grandchildren Patrick, Daniel and Kelsey. He loved them more than life itself. He also has 2 great grandchildren Kylee Grace and Oakland Cash. Kylee was his little Sweetheart and Oakland “his little man”. Van will be missed but will forever live in our hearts. Every time I see my wife Susan and her compassion towards another, her empathy to someone who’s hurting and her telling dorky jokes, I will forever be reminded that Van lives in her heart.
