Alfred Joseph Garofalo's Obituary
Al was born in Swampscott, Massachusetts. His parents were Carmine and Marianna Garofalo. Al leaves a wife of 60 years of marriage, Dawn Garofalo, and two children, Frank Garofalo and Teri Lee; also his late daughter Joni La Combe, sister Rose Gegnose and brothers Phil and Jim Garofalo. There are eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Al joined the United States Navy at age 17 (had to lie about his age to get in the Navy.) He spent four years on two Destroyers: USS Tennessee and USS Floyds Bay in the Pacific. Al was station at Yokohama, Japan during that time. Al worked in the food business as a Salesman for California Cheese Company (now Sorrento) for 28 years, then for Vowles Farm Fresh Foods for another 5 years. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Church – 2766 Navajo Road – El Cajon, California 92020 at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012. Inurnment with military honors will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012.
