Arlene Johnson, 87 from Oceanside, California, went to be with our lord on March 16, 2019. She grew up in Milwaukee Wisconsin and was born on June 6, 1931. She will be joining her mom and dad, Emmett E. Apel and Florence Ida Nue Read Obituary
I loved this lady! I had the honor of caring for her while both inpatient and outpatient. We had an instant bonding! She looked to me for guidance and she accepted me for my “black and white” ways of telling it like it is. Together we made a good team when it came to her healthcare. I feel blessed to have known her and helped her. She is missed and I know she is loved dearly by all friends and family.
I am Christine Tucker, one of Auntie Arlene’s nieces born to Cliff and Dolores Apel (Cliff was Auntie Arlene’s half-brother). Because I was a late life child to Cliff and Dolores Apel, I did not have the communication like the other grandkids did with Florence Apel who was my Grandma, Arlene’s mother. I loved my Auntie Arlene and adopted her as my Grandma in my head and who wouldn’t, she was fun, feisty and lived in California! Those first visits out to California from Wisconsin when I was 10 to see my sister Kathy and visits with Arlene and my cousins Cheryl and Vicky at Sea World etc. were a blast! That was it, Auntie Arlene was forever in my heart and soul, we share the same birth month relentless Gemini’s which she pointed out all the time. I moved to California in 78’ and was so happy we were closer. Most recently the days in Laughlin, Nevada, Arlene’s Favorite spot, I got to watch Memorial Day Zambelli fireworks with her, Cousin Cheryl and fiance’ Dale at the Colorado River Indian Resort The Avi, she loved it like a kid! Dear Cheryl, Vicki and family, this is one soul that will definitely be missed; especially that hearty laughter and mischievous grin when she was ready to either get into “trouble” or beat you badly at cards. Our only comfort is that there is a place beyond time, space and the universe…we will one day meet her there. Be still, be healthy and always carry a smile for her. We are her friends for eternity. Arlene was a second mom to me we lived on the same street when I was a young child.I remember living at her house when I was a teenager she took me in when I had no where else to go,we would go to the movies together and go get ice cream when we were bored. Over the years we have had a lot of deep conversations about life she always sent me a anniversary card and birthday card every year!! She will be missed??
