Bayani M. Elane's Obituary
Bayani M. Elane
December 11, 1933 - November 27, 2025
Bayani Miclat Elane, also known as “Log”, age 91, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday morning, November 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 11, 1933 in Olongapo City, Philippines. He was a beloved son of the late Agustin R. Elane and Patrocenia M. Elane.
He was the second to the oldest of the four (4) children. He was preceded in death by his oldest brother Andres “Aot” Elane, sister Bernardita “Ning” Arinduque, youngest brother Gregorio “Yang” Elane, oldest son Manuel “An-neh” Elane, and granddaughter Joni Mae A. Elane.
From a young age, Bayani “Log” learned the values of resourcefulness and hard work. During the Japanese occupation in the Philippines, he often accompanied his mother to search for food for their family. After graduating from Jackson High School, he began working as a journeyman at the U.S. Naval Base, Subic Bay, Philippines. He later joined the Ship Repair Facility (SRF) Shop 71, where he dedicated 33 years of service before immigrating to the United States in 1989. In the U.S., he continued his career at BAE Systems, working for more than 15 years as a painter and fire watch at the shipyard. He was known for his strong work ethic and conscientiousness.
Back in the Philippines, he enjoyed stenciling at his father’s workbench and lettering/painting names on the town fiesta floats—a hobby he became quite skilled at. After retiring, he found joy in simple routines, such as taking walks at Tooma Park and spending time with fellow Filipino seniors. He loved going to the swap meet on weekends, reading the newspaper, and watching the San Diego Padres. And of course, he had a fondness for his collection of Hawaiian shirts and military camouflage—and used to enjoy drinking beer.
He carried a pure, innocent heart and spoke only when words mattered. Contentment for him was simple, never requiring anything extravagant. His love, care, and strength towards his family made him an unwavering provider. Even in his later years, he volunteered to work seven days a week to support those he loved. He lived with resilience and dignity, and leaves behind a legacy built on courage, integrity, and devotion.
Bayani is survived by his wife, Julita; three sons, Jimmy, Samuel, Victor; one daughter, Arlene; four daughter-in-laws, Edna, Cristina, Marilyn, Rebecca; seven grandchildren, Jacqueline, Jim Brian, April, Samantha, Nikko, Shania Mae, Sophia Marie; four great grandchildren, Dejuan Miguel, Liam Vaugn, Kavin Cale, and Jove Gabriel.
