Bernetta Silvers' Obituary
Bernetta Mary Silvers, 92, passed away December 5, 2015 at her home of 69 years. She was born October 18, 1923 in Hastings, Nebraska. After High School and Business College she worked at the U. S. Naval Ammunitions Depot where she met her future husband after he had returned from overseas during WWII. They married on March 30, 1945 and moved to Gerald’s parents’ home in San Diego while their new home was being built in La Mesa. She was a homemaker and raised one son, Thomas. She was a volunteer at Grossmont Hospital and also at La Mesa Library. She is survived by her son, her brother-in-law; Rick Gore, and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993. She and her husband had traveled in their RV to all 50 states except Alaska. Eventually, she was able to visit there on a cruise with Tom. A service will be held on December 16, 2015 at 1:00pm in Salli Lynn Chapel at Greenwood Memorial Park. The family suggests donations to Sharp Hospice in lieu of flowers.
