Mr. Irving was my English Teacher at Helix High. He was an amazingly creative Teacher. He allowed my classmate and I to come to his home for an interview for my Senior Civics class after he was no longer teaching at Helix. He is one of the best Teachers I ever had. He always went the extra mile. Thank you Mr. Irving.
Mr. Irving was my English teacher at Helix High in 1965. He was by far the most inspiring, ethical and challenging teacher I had. One day he returned a paper I had written, saying, “This is good, but you can do better than this. Try again.” I have tried to apply that to every assignment, communique or sermon I have written ever since. Thank you Mr. Irving!
You know for a long time, a question people would ask each other was "Where were you when President Kennedy was shot?" My answer to that was Tenth grade English class at Helix High School in La Mesa, taught by Clarence Irving. We got sent home early that day to grieving parents. Mr. Irving was one of my most influential teachers in high school.
