Uncle Dave embodied love and family. I’m so thankful to have met him and Sharlene along with their family when I was stationed in San Diego in 1999. I am even more thankful to have maintained communication with them over the years. It made me giggle when he would say “what’s up kiddo” on our phone calls….??. Rest easy Marine. Uncle David’s legacy is a fine example of “paying it forward”. He definitely knew who his “neighbor” was, and why he was here. He took “Love your neighbor as yourself” to heart! He spent the better part of his life in service to God and country and his fellow man!! He knew how to cook and feed hundreds of people, and in the process, he fed the spirit and the soul! I’m not sure if he fully knew the impact he had on the lives of others. He just paid forward his own blessings in life ! Many benefitted just because he cared!
