David M. Williams' Obituary
Born in Eldorado, Ill., Dave joined the U.S. Marine Corp at the age of 17. When the Korean War broke out he was part of the 1st Marine Brigade sent to Korea, arriving August 2, 1950. Dave fought in the first four battles of that war including the Chosin Reservoir where temperatures fell to 40 degrees below zero. After 7 months of fighting he was sent back to the states where he was a drill instructor at Camp Pendleton. Following his discharge Dave became a cement finisher and a concrete foreman. Later he studied real estate and sold houses as well as buying a few to use for rental income in his retirement. He also was a general contractor. Dave had a large family and many friends. He and his wife, Sharlene Williams, had many celebrations at their home. Dave loved to cook and would find any excuse (birthdays, holidays, graduations, weddings, etc.) to invite everyone he knew to join him and his wife. As he often said: “I don’t know how to cook for less than 100 people”. Each year his Christmas gift to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was a trip to an amusement park (Legoland, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, etc.) We’d caravan there. He was a wonderful man with a loving heart. He unselfishly helped so many people. We miss him so much! He leaves his wife, Sharlene, his ex wife, Tina Williams, his children – Gregory Williams, Donna Rogers, Cathe Williams, John Williams, Rosie Weaver, Joe Williams, and Peter Williams and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family suggests in lieu of flowers to send donations to: www.semperfifund.org in memory of David M. Williams
