Eden Fernandez Azul's Obituary
Eden Fernandez Azul, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, was 78 when she lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on Thursday, April 10, 2025. She passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Eden was born in Legazpi City, Philippines, on July 12, 1946 and was the proud daughter of Cecilio and Alejandra Fernandez. She was one of four siblings; Pacita, Alice, and Oscar. Eden lived most of her life in San Ysidro, California for over 40 years. She is survived by her husband of 57 ½ years, Gil G. Azul; her 4 children and their spouses, (Gilden & Martha, Gerald & Pauline, Gail & Gabriel, and Gavin & Aidee); her six grandchildren (Gerald, Gilden, Cristal, Marisa, Gianni, and Mathias); and her last surviving sibling, Alice, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Eden earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at St. Aquinas University in the Philippines. She was a teacher for a short time before marrying the love of her life, Gil Azul, on December 14, 1967. Eden was affectionately appreciated for her kindness and understanding. She had a very caring heart filled with love and compassion, especially for her family. Her new career as a sailor's wife was both challenging and life-changing. She endured and overcame the laborious tasks of being both mother and father to her four children while her beloved husband was thousands of miles away on deployment. She had a successful career as a Quality Control Clerk at Wawanesa Insurance for over 20 years.
Her unwavering faith in God defined her life on earth. Her passing created a great void in our hearts. With our belief and faith in the Lord, it is our consolation and comfort to know that Eden will be residing in a place where there is no more pain or sadness. Instead, she will be with the Lord to rest in peace and have eternal joy.
