Ernest Lee Beckett, a devoted public servant and longtime resident of San Diego, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, at the age of 77.
Born on March 7, 1948, in New Jersey to Ernest L. Beckett and Barbara Lee Williams of South Carolina, Ernest moved to San Diego in 1970, where he would spend the next 55 years building a life rooted in dedication, craftsmanship, and community.
Ernest proudly served as a machinist for the Department of the Navy for an extraordinary 47 years. His precision, work ethic, and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the mission he supported. He was known for his quiet strength, steady hands, and unwavering integrity.
Beyond his professional life, Ernest was a man of deep character and humility. He cherished the simple joys of life—sunny afternoons in the garden, the hum of a well-tuned machine, and the company of family and friends.
