Frances passed away on September 2nd of natural causes. She was predeceased by her son, Carl J. Cobb III. She is survived by husband Esteban, sister Gail and brother-in-law Kevin Cheney of Descanso, CA. Daughter-in-law Linda Cobb Read Obituary
Jean was my Foster mom for a couple of years. She was the best, I was able to succeed in school then went on to serve in the Navy during Desert Shield/Storm. I got out crippled but managed to graduate summa cum laude with a hybrid social work / human services degree. I lost touch as life is a struggle but will never forget how Jean and Steve gave me a chance.
Jean was my partner in crime when we were president and Vice President of CSEA (California schools Employees Association). We were joined at the hip for 6 years as we navigated the responsibilities of those “volunteer “ positions, on top of our paid jobs.
We became very close. I am ashamed to say that I did not keep in contact with her after she retired. I loved her very much and had the utmost respect for her.
I hope you are Resting in Peace Jean. See you on the flip side.
Jean was a long time friend going back to Jr. High days. We always had a good time together...... whenever we were together. I had time with her and Mary
Alice who I went to grammer school with. WE had lunch, breakfast and great times whenever we were together.l.
She was such a caring person taking care of so many young people that needed someone to love them which Jean did. We would talk now and then and catch up on our lives. I love the picture of all of us taken when
Carolyn Smith was here in San Diego. Now Carolyn, and Elaine Peabody along with Jean are no longer with us. But what great memories of school and when we were young. Also good memories as we got older. She was always dear to me and I will miss the fact that she is no longer here. I pray for her family and loved ones that our Lord with come close to them and give them peace along with helping them through their loss. Steve, Thank you so much for taking time to call me about Jean's passing. Of course, it was not a call I wanted to receive, but I am very glad to know.
To all of her family and friends: I know there is nothing any of us can say that will take away the loss. Please know that I share the grief of this loss. My love and prayers are with you, as you gather to share all your wonderful memories of Jean.
Jean was such a beautiful person, caring, loving, a faithful friend to all. Jean was a wonderful mother not only to her own children, but many other children that came into her life along the way. All of her San Diego High School classmates will miss her terribly. Some of these friendships go back to their youngest years.
