Celebrating the Life of George Steven Garner
Born on October 31, 1953, in San Diego, CA. He was the fourth of four children. His parents were Charles Evan Garner and Ella Mae Welzbacher. He attended Lincoln Acres Elementary in National City, Ca. as well as Wilson Jr. High in Exeter, Ca. and Redwood High School in Visalia, Ca. After graduation, he began his career as a grocery clerk and some years later started his own business, Garner’s Janitorial. He was married on October 30, 1973, to Sandra Kaye Wolverton in Visalia, Ca. They had two children together Brandon Barrett Garner and Miriam Georgiana McClain. George and Sandra divorced in 1988. George worked several more years as a grocery clerk and managed a grocery store in Alpine before restarting his Janitorial business during the last fifteen years of his life, with his son working by his side. He loved gardening, barbequing, and fishing in his spare time with family. He was known by his business associates as George and by the family as Steve and five words that everybody would say describe him are hardworking, loyal, loving, happy and faithful. He was faithful to keep promises made and his God. He felt he could do all things if God was walking with him including die if that was God’s will.
He is survived by his children Brandon Garner and Miriam McClain, his brother Charles Garner and his sisters Joyce Garner and Peggy Robertson. He had four nephews Jeff Garner, Chris Higginbottom, Timothy Robertson and Aaron Robertson. He had four nieces Kimberly Sarale, Jennifer Robertson, Michelle Astorga and Melissa Speelman. He is also survived by 3 great nieces and 8 great nephews.
