Gerald Lee Kinnison's Obituary
Gerald Lee Kinnison born on July 16, 1931, in San Diego California to parents Charles Grandison Kinnison II and Lola Lenore Bjarnson entered into eternal rest on September 21, 2022, in San Diego, California. Resided in San Diego nearly his entire life. Gerald was a respected and loving son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. Gerald graduated from Hoover Highschool in 1949 then entered the US Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean war. After being Honorably Discharged he went on to Graduate from UCLA with a Bachelor's in physics August 1958, Master's in physics January 1960, PhD in physics and physiology and attended U of London for his post-doctoral research fellowship 1963 academic year. Gerald dedicated 32 years to Navy Electronics Lab before retiring in October of 1995. Gerald married his high school sweetheart Beverly Joyce Lechien in 1950 and together they raised a family of four children: Dana, Susan, Mark, and Leanne. Beverly succumbed to cancer in 1988. In 1989, Gerald married Zelma June Crider, and spent the rest of his life with her. Gerald was a loving, caring, humble man who lived a life of success and dedication to his faith at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his wife Zelma, his four children, and fifty-two grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
