Gilbert J. Montoya's Obituary
Mr. Gilbert Jose Montoya was born in 1932 to Teofilo Montoya and Magdalena Miera in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was the first child born out of three. After graduation, Gilbert became a Power Plan Mechanic. Later he joined the U.S. Navy and stayed for 22 years of service, attaining the rank of Master Chief. He then worked for SDGE and a Maintenance Foreman for 15 years. The love love of his life was his beautiful wife, Haruko. She unfortunately passed away several years before Gilbert and was laid to rest at Greenwood Memorial Park. Some of Gilberts favorite things were hanging out with his wife and son, rebuilding cars, traveling, and watching the San Diego Chargers play football. He was not happy to hear about the team moving to Los Angeles! It has been said that Gilbert was a very humorous and curious guy. He was an intelligent man who loved to read. Gilbert passed away at age 85 in September of 2017. He is survived by his son Steve; sister Linda; nieces, Barbara and Dianne; step daughters, Elizabeth and Vivian; and his nephews, Richard, Mark, Michael and Paul.His family will be having services at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary on September 15th, 2017 starting at 9:00 AM at the Bible Mausoleum. The Navy Honor Guard will start things off and then there will be a Viewing to follow in the Chapel of the Last Supper. Then there will be a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM in the same chapel.
