Helen was my grandmother; Grandmother Syphers as I knew her. My clearest and most consistent memory of her when I was a child is that she was well-put together, dignified, and classy. As a result, when we visited an amusement park together, she was horrified to see me licking my palms repeatedly. I remember feeling irrationally scolded at the time — my hands tasted salty and good! — but now I have children of my own and wield hand sanister like our lives depend on it, I appreciate her stepping in…I had been clutching rails hat thousands had held! I also appreciate grandparents who aren't afraid to correct. I hope she enjoys vivid memory and peace now. And sanitary hands. – Helen's granddaughter, Angela, New Zealand
