Inigo Figuracion's Obituary
INIGO FIGURACIONBorn June 1, 1924 Died September 15, 2010 Inigo Figuracion, born June 1, 1924, passed away on Sept. 15, 2010 of natural causes. A native of Nabua, Camarines Sur, Philippines, Inigo battled the effects of a stroke and Parkinson’s disease during his last two years. He wed his sweetheart, Refugio Celaje, in 1950, and after brief stays in Hawaii and Philadelphia they arrived in San Diego in 1956 with their two young daughters. During his 20-year career in the U.S. Navy, the family grew to three daughters and two sons (a third son died in infancy). Inigo retired from the Navy with the rank of Chief Petty Officer, and continued his post-military career with the U.S. Postal Service, from which he retired in 1986. Inigo was active in the local Filipino community, and was a past-president of the Bicol Club of San Diego and a longtime parishioner of St. Rita’s Catholic Church. Over the years, he enjoyed the company of friends and family, daily walks outdoors, watching sports on TV, and the excitement of Las Vegas trips. Inigo is survived by his loving and devoted wife Refugio, children Paula, Hedda, Bernard, Inigo and Melissa, and their families, including two grandchildren, Jordan and Edie. The family welcomes donations made on behalf of the San Diego Hospice.
