Jean F. Vasely's Obituary
Mrs. Jean Frances Vasely passed away peacefully at her home on June 4th, 2018 at the age of 90 in Coronado, California. Jean was born on December 7th, 1927 in Ossining, New York to James and Florence Cahill. She was the first born and an only child, growing up in Yonkers, New York. She attended the following schools: Yonkers Public School #14, Mark Twain Junior High, Roosevelt High School, and then became a Registered Nurse through the Army Nurse Corps program at Flower 5th Avenue Hospital. Jean spent about 50 years in nursing, retiring in 1997 (19 of those years she was an Emergency Room RN at Coronado Hospital). She married the love of her life, Mr. Edward J. Vasely, on June 17th, 1950 at St. Mary’s Church in Mt. Vernon, New York. Jean was a loving devoted wife for 68 years. She and Edward had a full, wonderful life together, enjoying their children and church family. Jean was an active volunteer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and with other organizations. She was a member of the Women’s Sewing Club at church, and a member of the Coronado Gardening Club. Jean was also a Senior Volunteer at the Coronado Police Department for 20 years. Jean was a very giving and loving woman who was strong and loyal to her family. She loved gardening, sewing, and making people smile. Some of her favorite past times were listening to music, including the 40’s era, and piano music. Jean and her family also loved going to their family lake property in Eaton, New York.Jean is survived by her husband, Edward; 6 adult children, Debbie Cea, Mike Vasely, Paul Vasely, Bob Vasely, Denise Compton, and Pete Vasely; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.A special request from the family… In Lieu of flowers, please donate to Silverado Hospice in San Diego, or to the Wounded Warriors Project.
