Van Atta, Josephine S's Obituary
Josephine was born on September 7, 1933, to Luis Marino Siota and Helen Mary Bevan in Manila in the Philippines. She was the eldest of six children and had five brothers. Josephine and her family survived the WWII Japanese occupation by hiding in the mountains. Josephine's mother was an American Citizen with fair skin and would have been severely persecuted. Josephine attended a Roman Catholic High School in Manila.
In 1956 Josephine married William Van Atta, who was a US Navy sailor stationed in the Philippines. Josephine worked as a secretary at the University of Miami while her husband pursued a degree in Oceanography. Josephine and William had three children, Robert, Angela and Jennifer, who all predeceased Josephine.
The family moved to San Diego and lived there continuously from 1960. Josephine belonged to the Holy Family Catholic Church in Linda Vista and worked at the GNC store in Mission Valley for about 15 years. She has now rejoined her loving family in heaven.
