Lorain Ruth De Marino's Obituary
Lorain Ruth Craven DeMarino – known by most as “Lory”was born June 26, 1925 in San Diego, Ca. to parents Raymond and Yeteve Craven. They were a military family and were in and out of San Diego during her early years. These were the post-depression years and most family members worked. So at the age of 10, Lory began working after school and/or on Saturdays at Bunnel Photo Shop downtown and over the years learned the whole trade of photo finishing and photography. She received the Lord as her Savior in a North Park Baptist church evening service at age 12 and began serving him in various ministries at age 24. Lory met Tom in High School and it truly was “Love At First Sight”. Because of the war, they married young on February 20, 1943 and had 4 children (the Lord took one home). She is survived by her husband of 72 years Thomas, her son Thomas Jr and his wife Becky, her son Michael and his wife Donna, and her daughter Janet and her former husband Scott. She has three grandchildren: Stephen, Sasha and Brandon and three great grandchildren, Sarah, Vito and Vincent. She also leaves behind nieces and nephew: April, Jim, Velda, Barb and Patty and their families. Lory also had many spiritual sons and daughters who she mentored and discipled. She and Tom came to Mission Church of the Nazarene as the second family to this new church. She served as Vacation Bible School director, taught 2nd grade Sunday school, was involved in women’s ministries, grief ministry, prayer groups and also lead Precept Ministries Bible Studies for 30 years until she was in her 80’s when health issues brought an end to her actively serving years. Lory will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Visitation and Service details are as follows:
