Lyle Dean Stastny's Obituary
A TRIBUTE TO GRANDPAOur wonderful Father and GP (Grandpa) has peacefully left this life for the bigger band stage of Heaven. He was greeted there by loving family and once again united with his sweetheart Shirley. Grandpa Lyle was a fun loving person that brightened the lives of all of those around him.Grandpa had a special gift for music! He spent 8 months of his young adulthood traveling the world on the Valley Forge carrier while playing in the Navy band. The carrier went to Hawaii, Australia, China, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Gibraltar, Norway, England, Africa and the Panama Canal. He later returned to marry his sweetheart Shirley in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 18th, 1948.Grandpa and Grandma had 3 beautiful children, Joan, Janene, and Kenny, all of which were raised in San Diego, CA. Living close to the beach and spending much of their time on their boat waterskiing are pastimes that still unite his family today.Grandpa worked at Sears Roebuck for 30 years followed by later obtaining his dream job at the Mormon Battalion Visitor Center where he loved working with missionaries from all over the world. Grandpa loved his family, his music, and serving others in his community and church. His greatest gift to everyone was his wonderful sense of humor.WE LOVE YOU GRANDPA, PLAY ON!! Janae Nelson (Granddaughter)
