I went to school with Maria from 2nd Grade at Holy Spirit through 12th Grade at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace. When I entered Holy Spirit in 2nd Grade, I was very afraid and nervous, and Maria was one of the girls who made me feel at ease. She quickly became a friend to me and our friendship lasted throughout all of grade school and hight school. I have always considered Maria to be my dear friend, even though we lost touch after high school.
One of my favorite memories of Maria is of playing volleyball with her on the Holy Spirit JV and Varsity teams. Maria was an excellent volleyball player and I loved being her teammate! Our team could always count on her to execute great serves, make great spikes, and set us up for great spikes of our own. Most importantly, she was a beloved team member. We all loved her!
The picture on this obituary is exactly the way I remember Maria. This is exactly how I see her in my memory. To her siblings, husband, and children, please accept my condolences at the loss of such a wonderful lady. My prayers are with all of you!
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
