Maria Carmen Laguna's Obituary
My mother, María Carmen, was an example of a true woman. She was born in Tuxtla, Nayarit, Mexico, and was the second-to-last of 12 children. As a young woman, she immigrated to Tijuana, BC , Mexico, where she met my father, Jesús Q. Laguna. They met, began dating, and married. Mom and Dad moved to San Diego in 1974, bought a house, and had 7 children.
Mom was a devoted mother and wife; she was a homemaker and worked part-time at a dry cleaner, where she was the best in the business! I loved going to work with her because we would stop for donuts and coffee on the way to work!
Mom did the housework, cleaned, took care of her many animals, and worked part-time. She raised 7 beautiful children and cared for her husband day and night.
She believed in hard work, self-discipline, and tenacity—and in doing things the old-fashioned way. Mom was like a finely tuned oil machine! She never stopped serving others, especially her family. She raised her family with good values and instilled in us her faith in the Lord.
Mom was a generous person; wherever she went, she always had something to share. She was always willing to help those in need with a joyful heart.
Mom was strong, dedicated, courageous, hardworking, patient, and loving.
She dedicated her life to her husband and children, living a life of service.
Mom served until she could barely walk and needed a chair to sit on while cooking. She always made sure we had food in our bellies and cooked with a loving heart. No meal will ever taste the same as Mom's!
Mom is survived by seven children, 29 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
We will remember Mom for her sense of humor, hard work, generosity, courage, and kindness. She devoted her heart to serving her family and had an everlasting love for all.
"WE LOVE YOU, MOM. YOU WILL BE FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS."
Your beloved daughter, Margarita Laguna
