Mary Louise Mac Gillis' Obituary
Mary Louise Mac Gillis was born on August 30, 1938 in San Diego, California — the first of two children in the family. Her father was Laurence Barrows from Montana and Lorna McClish of California. Mary stayed in the San Diego area all her life and passed on May 7, 2015. She attended Helix High School, and then San Diego Community Colleges where she earned an Associates Degree. She ended up working as Secretary for the Community College District in San Diego where she served for about 45 years.Some of the areas she lived in are San Diego, Lemon Grove, Leucadia, and Encinitas. She was a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Carlsbad and in helping the homeless. She was a social activist, caring organizer, and very generous with her time. She had a way of sharing her love for the homeless, involving them in church activities and games. Mary will be missed by all who knew her!
