Monique was a truly beautiful soul — inside and out. She was the kind of person who could call you out when you were wrong, yet never judge you for your mistakes. Smart, talented, and full of light, she was one of those rare “star” people whose energy you felt the moment you met her.
Monique was a close friend who gave honest advice, shared endless laughter, and made every moment brighter. I’ll never forget trying to copy her homework once — the teacher knew right away it wasn’t mine and called on me to explain. I couldn’t, and the whole class laughed. That memory still makes me smile because it reminds me how sharp she was and how she always inspired others to do better.
Our circle of friends became family — a crew of guys and girls who were truly inseparable. We supported each other through everything, from my football games to her track meets, and our friends’ basketball games. No matter what the event was, we showed up for one another, and Monique was always right there cheering and bringing her incredible spirit.
When I left for the military and would come back for vacation, our old crew would always find a way to hang out. Her warmth, humor, and genuine energy never changed — it was like no time had passed at all.
She was more than a good friend — she was family. Loved by many and blessed with a wonderful soul. My deepest condolences to her family, and my heartfelt thanks to God and to her parents for sharing such a beautiful spirit with this world.
Though God has called you home, Monique, your light will continue to shine down on us forever.
