Paul Saenz Wong Sr.'s Obituary
Paul ‘PW’ Saenz Wong, Sr., 85, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, November 13, 2014.Paul was born on April 17, 1929, son of the late Luis and Francisca Pilar Wong Wee. As the eldest son, his childhood was oftentimes filled with financial, racial, and political struggle, which instilled a deep conviction of pride and determination for a better life at a young age. After tragically losing his father at the age of 10, Paul bravely ventured with his sister Adela to Stockton, California in search of a better life and security. His journey toward fulfilling his personal dreams led him to beautiful San Diego where he began working the docks loading and unloading trucks of produce. It was during this time that he met, courted, and married his wife, Judy Meza. Furthering his career development in the trucking industry as a means to financially support his growing family, Paul utilized his quick ability to learn and charming charisma to promote himself to a professional truck driver with daily routes across Southern California, Utah, Nevada, and New Mexico with Coast Citrus Distributors. As his family continued to grow, his personal drive, determination, and strong work ethic further prompted Paul to embrace his natural entrepreneurial gifting and branch off as an independent produce dealer. And thus in the late 1960s, PW Produce was established. Fond memories of their Daddy’s return from long trips across the county are still firmly etched in the heart of his wife and their six children. As the years continued, he eventually began to stay home more until he finally retired as a business owner and sub-contractor for Digby Trucking Company. His dream of a better life had built a firm foundation for his family that was now beginning to grow with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.His grandiose storytelling, humorous personality, and ingenious ability to build and fix anything are trademarks that will never be forgotten. His legacy of deep family ties, strong work ethic, and unconditional love will forever live on in the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who have vowed to ensure the Wong Legacy continues. Today, we celebrate the love of a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose influence and impact is far greater than even death.Memories of Paul’s life will be cherished by his loving wife, Judy; along with their six adorning children, Paul, Frances, Dora, Christine, Susie, and Michelle; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.The Viewing is scheduled for Thursday, November 20 from 5pm-9pm at Greenwood Garden Chapel. A Memorial Celebration Service will take place on Friday, November 21 at 12:30pm at Cornerstone Church of San Diego, followed by a Graveside Service at Greenwood Garden of Calvary Extension at 3pm.Remembrances and memorial contributions may be made in the form desired by family and friends.Psalm 23 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
