A Tribute Post to honor my Mother-in-Law:
The dearest friends called her Becca, others Becky. To the family she was Ama or Tia Rebecca, for my grandchildren, Mama Becca, and for me, I call her Mom...
Being once blessed with a wonderful Mother; and twice blessed with you, my Mother-in-Law, I am grateful for your kindness, generosity, and love that you have always shown me over the years. Thank you for raising the man of my dreams and sowing the right values in him to be such a supportive figure in the best, and in the worst of times, and for seeing him grow into such a wonderful person. I am truly blessed.
Like every Mother/Daughter-in-law relationship, we had a few ups and downs, but I'm glad that we worked towards strengthening our bond. I have a great respect for you. You are the biggest bonus I could have ever wished for, a fun-loving person to be around, sharing together lovely moments like sipping coffee with panecito dulce, or without panecito in your cozy place... Delicioso! Or going with you to the old Thrifty store to enjoy an ice cream cone - your favorite flavor, Butter Pecan, and my favorite too! Learning from you to cook Mexican food. Mmmm... another favorite. To see you playing Parcheesi with my daughter, and years later with her children, your great grand children -- and no cheating allowed! :)
I'm thankful to so many who have been supportive and expressed your love toward Mom. Special thanks to her granddaughter Becky, and great granddaughters Amanda and Jasmine for staying overnights at the hospital to be with Mom through her last nights until she stepped over into the arms of Jesus.
Mom, you are one-of-a-kind. I am forever thankful for you, and await the moment of our joyful heavenly reunion where "...we will be with the Lord forever." (I Thes. 4:17)
